I doubt it. The most you might be able to do is ask if you can leave a book at the front desk.

I certainly hope not! LTC residents are easy marks and seldom have ready funds, and it is extremely unfair to take advantage of them with selling things! They will certainly appreciate the company, though, so if you’re in the mood for good deeds and perhaps a tax deduction, go visit and take lots of freebies and samples.
It would depend on what the nursing home’s policy on solicitations are. Most would not. Often the clients in nursing homes have limited access to their money too, some nursing homes only dole out money (like an allowance) since most of the client’s needs are provided by the home. All you can do is ask the home’s administration.
I seriously hope not! I would hate for my ailing grandmother be taken advantage of by a salesperson. Most folks in nursing homes are very ill and not able to make decisions for themselves.
Now if you’re thinking of a retirement community, that could be different. You would have to check with the management.
Why do all the other responders seem to think that the elderly shouldn’t be able to spend their own money if they want to? Just because you’re put in a nursing home, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to take care of yourself. Nursing home staff take even confused residents out on shopping trips all the time – they know how to keep people from being taken advantage of.
I think this is a very nice idea. If you did a few makeovers on some of the residents and let others watch, that could be a lot of fun. Manicures especially are appreciated because it’s an intimate experience – you’re sitting close to somebody, holding their hands and chatting. Nursing home residents don’t get that kind of personal touch as often as they need, so that would be greatly appreciated.
Contact the nursing home’s activity director and see if they’re interested. Keep in mind that most residents only get $ 45 a month from social security so they don’t have a lot of cash to spend. Plan on selling smaller items for personal use that the residents might also be able to use as small gifts for their families.
If there are confused people that can’t handle their money, staff will help them look for items and purchase something reasonable within their budget.
